Bye Alghero

After a fabulous week, strenuous as well as very enjoyable, it was time to have a relaxed final evening outside my usual bar watching the wonderful cat nonna who has been feeding these cats in Alghero every day for 20 years.

Everytime I watched this joyful reunion of cats and the lovely old lady, I could not help but think of the musical Cats, especially looking at the poor long-haired cat(black and white, at the back of the line)  which is apparently quite sick and can't groom itself. I expected it to start singing 'Memories'! Actually, every night it allowed itself to be brushed quite roughly, whilst being told in a soothing voice how lovely he was. Such a great pleasure to have witnessed this cat lover.
I decided to forego a school party because I needed to be up early for the bus, and to pack. A quiet evening was perfect. I did meet up with a group I knew, so that was great too. Alghero is quite small, so you get to know people quite quickly. Very nice! No wonder that many come for a holiday and end up buying a place here.
So here I am now back in Olbia, exactly one week since I arrived here. 35 degrees again, so it was pretty hot work walking the 1.5 km from the bus stop to our very nice hotel, but it didn't take long. I then made my way to a local market which was so tempting. Fruit looked delicious. Markets are such colourful, vibrant places, and if you look carefully, there are sometimes extras hidden amongst the goods for sale!

On the way back to the hotel, I found exactly the right shoes for me - colour and heel length!

My friend Guni arrives soon and then our trip around the island will begin tomorrow.,
