Stintino and Alghero

The coastal road south is spectacular and landscape changes frequently as the road follows the coast and then heads inland towards the foothills.  Just outside Castelsardo we found Elephant rock. From this side it was interesting to see how the rock has been eroded And from the other side, the naturally sculpted rock really did look like an elephant. It stood out with the backdrop of wonderfully fertile plains. Stintino is probably  one of the most popular spots to bathe in the area area. The colour of the water is just incredible. In the distance across the shallow turquoise sea is Asinara, a nature reserve. Sadly no time to arrange a visit there today. However, we made the most of pre-June, pre-crowd bathing and headed to Pelosa beach, the most famous in the area due to the pristine sand and clearest of clear water.
