Maloja and Sils. Farewell to Zuoz

I got back to Zuoz just in time to go to our fabulous end- of-camp barbeque in Samedan. What a fantastic evening we had - great food, perfect weather, great company and lots of singing after dinner and en route home. We hadn't drunk so much but the atmosphere was just wonderful.
As the temperature soared, short walks to Madulain were attractive to me.
On my final day, I went further afield, to Maloja. I can't believe that I haven't been there this time. I love the walk to Sils, though the second half is no longer as pleasant and restful because of the many cyclists.
The start, at the mooring for the little Silsersee boat is very pretty, with a stunning backdrop.
'Enjoy this splendid nature with us', is written on the bench. I certainly did!
Further round the lake, after a beautiful walk up and down through the forest, you come out at this gorgeous spot, with the little village of Isola. It's so serene.
My lunch spot could hardly have had a more spectacular view.
Nearly back to Sils ( I was pleased by then to get away from cyclists on this narrow walking track,), I stopped to enjoy the breathtaking scenery, with the little boat in the foreground which sails across this lovely lake. I believe it's the highest lake above sea level in Switzerland where there is a passenger boat.
I was about to head home when I saw a track leading to a little,  wooded  peninsula on the other side of the lake. It proved to be a fantastic sudden decision to walk around it..
The view from its summit of the mountains of the Fex Tal and also the forested cliffs I had just been walking over was amazing. It's a perfect place to get away from busy tracks, especially on hot days.
After a fabulous evening with my friend and colleague of 18 years, Tiziana, in her beautifully renovated home in Schanf, it was time for farewells. This is the day I least enjoy of the camps, especially now, not knowing when I will come back.

The final morning, and one final narrow Maloja Snake in the valley.  Goodbye Zuoz, David ( for a few weeks), the brilliant Lyceum staff who I've know for decades, and all the great team members who make our camps so very successful.
