Final days Engadine
The cold days continued a little while, with fresh snow on the slopes just above the camp, and temperatures below zero. It was lovely and snug in the barrel, but going out during the night was not the favorite part of my stay!
I was completely spellbound by the phenomenal views when I opened my door in the morning. I've never seen such magnificent clouds before.
I'm so pleased I went back for my camera. By the time I returned from my shower, the clouds had changed completely.
It was a perfect day spent with Tom, who had ended up in hospital after arriving from Thailand. He had an allergic reaction to a mosquito bite!
We had a fabulous walk in the shade of the pine forest near Sils Maria. Such peace and tranquility, and no bikes!
I continued from Sils alone to Silvaplana. The scenery is spectacular and the color of the water incredible.
It doesn't matter how often you do these walks, they are always different and always breathtaking. As I neared Silvaplana, many kilometers later, those heavy clouds started to reappear, by no means spoiling the views, but rather enhancing them!
The rays of sun lit up the turquoise water, casting a thin layer of silver light on it.
I was so weary, but I really wanted to go to the Jazz Concert in St Moritz. I'm so pleased I did! A phenomenal singer was singing many songs in Rumauntsch, the local language. It was a fabulous end to a wonderful day.
From jazz to classical! The church concert had been lovely, but it can't match the concerts in the forest. Sitting there in the shade of the pine trees with Marco, listening to beautiful music, transports you away from this world.
What a fabulous day I had with two of my best friends, Marco and Dennis. We've done so many summer camps together and really enjoy each other's company.
Val Rosegg was our goal. We took the horse and carriage up to the hotel overlooking the spectacular Rosegg Glacier. It was so relaxing and lots of fun with the 'lads'.
Our three sturdy steeds did a great job carrying us up the long but gentle incline towards the glacier.Beautiful animals.
The views as we began our descent on foot were breathtaking. Sadly, I'm sure the glacier has receded a huge amount since last year.
The views in all directions were stunning. There were plenty of rockfalls as we descended, many rocks being used very artistically.
Last year we couldn't take the route through the woods high above the river due to a recent landslide. This year, we could walk around the end of it.
It was a fantastic path, particularly because it was bike free and we were virtually alone there.
We finished our day at a local pizzeria, Palmisanos. We know the waiters there, who greeted us like long lost friends.
Today was my last day in the barrel for a while, so it was great to invite Dennis to join me for breakfast.
After enjoying time together at the jazz, we set off in very chilly weather for this time of year.
St Moritzer See is still gorgeous even if you are cold. We did have a funny moment as we were sitting admiring the view after our picnic. A dog, soaking wet, rushed towards us and grabbed Marco's bag with his lunch leftovers and raced off with it, Marco in hot pursuit! It was hilarious - at least for Dennis and me!Having said farewell to Marco, Dennis and I continued to Maloja Pass
We made a final stop at Plaun de Lek, with stunning views towards Sils and the Unter Engadine. It was a wonderful end to the weekend with my great buddies!
Now I'm on my own again, about to start a new adventure in Norway, with a brief stop in Bergamo tomorrow.
Staying in a small but comfortable room by the pass. I love the rules and regulations,
