Zuoz , Madulain and La Punt
Time has flown and with poor internet in my beer barrel accommodation, I am rather behind with this wonderful week in the Engadine.
We arrived to perfect weather, but the next day started with rain and we were treated to the Maloja Snake, the long, wispy, low cloud, which travels the length of the valley from the Maloja Pass. It hangs just above the River Enn and is a regular sight early mornings after rain.
Monday I moved to Madulain, to the campsite where my gorgeous wine barrel, Flurina, awaited me. I love that accommodation, so cosy and comfortable.
It has everything I could need, apart from an ensuite, but it's also amazing to walk through the camp in the middle of the night, surrounded by the mountains, silhouetted against the stary sky.
I only wanted a shortish walk in the morning, so opted for the path Madulain to Chamuesch.ch and La Punt.
Madulain is the smallest village in the Engadine, with only 270 local residents. I did a tour in the evening which was super interesting.
Chamuesch.ch is very picturesque and gardens tend to be wild flower gardens, a paradise for local insects.
As in all these villages, the churches are beautiful, as are all the fabulous Sgraffito designs on surrounding homes.
This home with its incredible floral display would deserve a place in the Patios of Cordoba. It seems years ago I was there, many many blogs ago!
