Llantwit Major and trip to Tenby day 1

I haven't really found time to keep up with my blog. Life in Llantwit Major revolves around my very large family here and the work I am doing for the camps.
Adding to the family, David paid us a short, surprise visit. How fabulous!
Afternoons, we often go for strolls around LM. There are wonderful walks across meadows carpeted with buttercups. They are simply glorious.
Not far from Llantwit, a half hour bus trip down the narrow, winding leafy lanes, is Ogmore on the sea, a beautiful stretch of beach with a beautiful river mouth.
Back in Llantwit Major, the churchyard is a picture, with magnificent daisies covering the gravestones.
On the far side of the buttercup field lies the Bristol Channel and Llantwit beach. Fabulous views from the hilltop.
Down on the stoney beach we could look back at the track we'd just taken. Not far from the track are the cliffs, very dangerous and crumbly.
When David left and there was a short lull in work, I decided to take a short trip to the absolutely stunningly beautiful coastal town of Tenby..
The entrance to the town through the castle walls is a brilliant introduction to this incredibly colourful town.
I realised how different NZ and Britain are when it comes to shops around beach areas. We just don't have shops focussing entirely on beach toys, etc.
Nor do we have shops only selling sweets!
We are also quite boring in NZ with regard to house colours.
This yellow pub is called the Plantagenet. It's a fantastic old pub with low doors and ceilings and cosy nooks and crannies
It was a chilly evening, so a welcoming fire attracted me in
Before my pub visit, I had enjoyed a perfect afternoon on the Castle and South beaches, both incredibly long sandy beaches, apparently heaving with visitors in school holidays.
Today, I was almost alone once I left the area close to town. I even paddled in the rather cool but pleasant 14 degree wate. Very British!
The sea here is just a fabulous turquoise blue.
This little, private island with its castle is accessible at low tide.
After my delicious fish and chips, I headed out around the coastal path and was treated to some spectacular views over this picturesque town.
Just beside the pretty little harbour is the old lifeboat house, which has been converted into a stunning private home ( apparently shown on Grand designs).
What an amazing day I had. Time for bed in my upgraded room. Instead of a regular room overlooking the town, I enjoyed a massive room with sea views. I was a bit concerned as to how I would get into bed, as it was very high!
