The country of Luxembourg, Vianden and Clervaux

What a fantastic first day I had in this Grand Duchy de Luxembourg with two ex Airbnb guests, Michèle and Lina. I had no idea what to expect and was blown away by the rolling hills covered in lush vegetation, the pretty little villages in the river valleys, Castles on many cliffs and so  very few people. Very pleasant.
Our first stop was the very picturesque town of Vianden, popular with locals and tourists alike. We had a good walk along the river, enjoying the wildlife and giving Lina's beautiful dog a chance to enjoy the water, luckily preferring to chase sticks than the Egyptian geese!
There is even a short, but steep chairlift up to a spectacular viewpoint above the castle, which dates back to the 10 th  century and is one of the most well kept in Luxembourg.
Not far down the road was Clervaux another sleepy little town in the valley, with another castle and even a cathedral.
Our final stop was at a farm where Lina keeps her Icelandic pony. There were plenty of new arrivals to entertain us too. Super cute!
And four- day-old foal. Lina figured that its legs would probably not grow much more, as Icelandic horses tend to have quite short legs.
I adore Icelandic horses. They are so docile and so beautiful with their exceptionally long mane, forelocks and tails.
