Wanaka - autumn Gold 2022
Poor Mike was blissfully unaware that he would be left alone for a few days! That Wanaka tree may have lost a branch years ago, but has certainly not lost its appeal to photographers. What a wonderful setting for this now world-famous tree! The lake is so low at present that there is a wonderful new beach for kiddies to explore, with perfect paddling pools and sand to play with. Fantastic too for adults who just want to wonder at the sheer beauty of the area and the stunning, wispy cloud formations. The Easter air show was cancelled, but we were treated to a brilliant one man show doing loops and fly pasts just in front of us. The flypasts were so low, the plane barely seemed to clear the magnificent poplars along the shores of Lake Wanaka. What a wonderful birthday present to have both Mark and David there in Wanaka and to enjoy absolutely delicious Italian-style pizzas at the lovely Hook restaurant. Next day it was time to get out and about from Glendhu Bay to do my favourite walk
